60 Seconds That Could Save a Child’s Life
When the unthinkable happens, every moment counts.
Westfield Provides Emergency Alert System.
The town of Westfield has recently signed on with Honeywell to provide residents with the Instant Alert Plus emergency communication system. When an emergency happens, town officials and emergency personnel quickly decide how to respond, and then send alerts to staff and community members about what to do.
When residents sign up for this FREE service, they will be asked to provide all the ways in which they want to be provided with emergency information and updates. Up to 10 different methods can be selected (phone, text message, email, pagers, faxes, etc.)
In the scenario above, a statewide “Amber Alert” would be issued, and residents would be given a description of the child, where she was last seen, and who to contact if case you’ve seen her.
But this is not the only situation where residents need to receive immediate warnings and instruction. Storms and natural disasters, major accidents and terrorist attacks can also provide dangerous situations where residents need quick and specific information.
The service is FREE, and it only takes a minute to sign up. So please…if not for your own sake, then for that of our children…take a moment and register.
It may turn out to be the most important minute of a child’s life.
